Description of the main holdings and collections available in the central historical archives
The following documents are available to the public :
  • Reports by parliamentary committees:
    on paper from 1992 to 2004 and in electronic format from 1952 to 1993 and from 1999 to the present;
  • Motions for resolutions:
    on paper since 1952, in electronic format from 1952 to 1989;
  • Written questions:
    on paper since 1979, in electronic format from 1955 to 1990;
  • Oral questions:
    on paper since 1959, in electronic format from 1959 to 1985;
  • Questions for Question Time:
    on paper since 1973, in electronic format from 1973 to 1979;
  • Minutes of parliamentary committee meetings:
    on paper since 1979, in electronic format from 1952 to 1994;
  • Minutes of plenary sittings of the European Parliament:
    electronic version only available to 1994;
  • Plenary debates:
    in electronic format from 1952 to 1999;
  • Ad hoc Assembly responsible for drafting a Treaty establishing a European Political Community:
    complete collection in electronic format (1952-1953) ;
  • Joint meetings of the Consultative Assembly of the Council of Europe and the European Parliament:
    complete collection in electronic format (1953-1978).
The European Parliament also keeps other documentary holdings on paper:
