CULT - Extraordinary meeting to adopt a report on the "European Year of Volunteering 2011" On 23.11.09 , CULT will adopt its report (consultation procedure) on the proposal for a European Year of Volunteering 2011. The rapporteur, Mr. Marco Scurria (EPP, IT), has held extensive discussions with the Swedish presidency to persuade the Council to take account of Parliament's concerns, especially the need for a larger budget. He hopes that it will be possible to adopt the act before the entry into force of the Lisbon Treaty, so giving the Commission time to prepare the Year. The meeting will take place in Strasbourg, in room SDM S1 from 21h00 - 22h30.
EMPL - Review of the Council Presidency Mr Sven Otto Littorin (Minister for Employment) and Ms Christina Husmark Pehrsson (Minister for Social Security) will present the conclusions of the Swedish Presidency to the EMPL committee on the 01.12.09 15h00. DEVE - ACP-EU joint parliamentary assembly The ACP-EU joint parliamentary assembly will meet in Luanda, Angola from 30.11 - 03.12.09. Members of parliament from four continents will focus on a series of vital issues for Africa, the Pacific, the Caribbean and Europe. These include: the financial crisis, climate change, refugees, global governance, trade and culture.
CONT - 2008 discharge to the Commission In the context of the 2008 budget discharge to the Commission there will be an exchange of views during the next CONT meeting of 02-03.12.09 with Mr Paweł Samecki, Member of the European Commission responsible for Regional Policy, Mr Vladimír Špidla, Member of the European Commission responsible for Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities and Mr Karel De Gucht, Member of the European Commission responsible for Development and Humanitarian Aid.
ENVI - Exchange of views with Andreas Carlgren, Swedish Environment Minister The ENVI Committee will hold an extraordinary meeting on 23.11.09 , in Strasbourg. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the state of play of the international climate change negotiations with the Swedish Minister for Environment, Mr Andreas Carlgren, right after the extraordinary Council of Environment Ministers.
