Next REGI Meeting 2-3 December 2009

The next meeting of the Committee on Regional Development will take place on Wednesday, 2 December from 15:00 to 18:30 and on Thursday 3 December from 09:00 to 12:30 in the meeting room JAN 4Q2.

Debate on Cohesion Policy in the view of the future EU Budget reform

During the last meeting, the Members of the REGI Committee held a debate on the draft communication from the European Commission to the EP and the Council on "A Reform Agenda for a Global Europe [reforming the budget, changing Europe]". The paper presents what could be the future Commission's vision on the EU budget reform and introduces controversial considerations regarding the cohesion policy. REGI decided that an Oral Question to the European Commission would be presented to be debated at the plenary session as soon as possible.

2 votes during the last REGI meeting

On 4 November the REGI Committee voted on two documents:

the draft report on "The proposal for a regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council amending Regulation (EC) No 1080/2006 on the European Regional Development Fund as regards the eligibility of housing interventions in favour of marginalised communities" (Rapporteur: Mr Lambert van Nistelrooij, PPE). The vote on the report in the plenary is foreseen for December.
the draft opinion on "The proposal for a Council Decision on the European Year of Volunteering (2011)" (Draftswoman: Karima Delli, Greens/EFA). The vote in the leading committee (the Committee on Culture and Education) is foreseen to take place on 23 November in Strasbourg.

Комисията отговаря за:

регионалната политика и кохезионната политика, по-специално:

а) Европейския фонд за регионално развитие, Кохезионния фонд и другите инструменти на регионалната политика на Съюза,

б) оценката на въздействието на други политики на Съюза върху икономическото и социалното сближаване,

в) координацията на структурните инструменти на Съюза,

г) най-отдалечените региони и острови, както и трансграничното и междурегионално сътрудничество,

д) отношенията с Комитета на регионите, организациите за междурегионално сътрудничество и органите на местната и регионална власт.

На своето заседание от 14 декември 2006 г. Председателският съвет взе решение за включването на проблематиката на градовете сред изричните правомощия на комисията.
