The next SEDE meeting
will take place on Thursday, 4 March, 9:00-12:30 in Brussels. The meeting will be webstreamed and you can watch it live here and in the archives here. The meetings of the Subcommittee on Security and Defence are open to the public. However, for security reasons, participants must obtain an access pass in advance. NATO's Strategic Concept AFET and SEDE will meet Mrs Madeleine Albright and the Group of Experts she chairs and debate the revision of NATO's Strategic Concept on 27 January, 18.30-20.30, in meeting room 4Q2 (JAN building), Brussels.
Security situation in Afghanistan SEDE will exchange views on the security situation in Afghanistan with representatives of the Council, the US Mission, the Mission of Afghanistan and with Mrs Ariane Quentier, journalist, on 25 January, 16.00-19.30, in meeting room 5B01 (PHS building), Brussels.

Présentation et compétences
La sous-commission "sécurité et défense" est une sous-commission de la commission des affaires étrangères. Ses compétences figurent au premier paragraphe des attributions de la commission AFET: "Cette commission est compétente pour les questions ayant trait: à la politique étrangère et de sécurité commune (PESC) et à la politique européenne de sécurité et de défense (PESD). Dans ce contexte, la commission est assistée par une sous-commission "sécurité et défense"."
