Public Hearing on "Towards a new EU strategy for gender equality" - 28 January FEMM will organise a public hearing on "Towards a new EU strategy for gender equality". The hearing is related to the own-initiative report recommending actions and initiatives for the new EU gender strategy, based on the assessment of the results of the Roadmap for equality, which is coming to the end of its period this year. The hearing will consist of two discussion panels: one on the objectives and priorities and a second on the tools and instruments for an effective EU gender equality strategy.

Prezentare și competenţe
Această comisie este competentă în chestiuni privind: - definirea, promovarea şi apărarea drepturilor femeii în Uniune şi măsurile luate în acest scop de către Comunitate;
- promovarea drepturilor femeii în ţările terţe;
- politica de egalitate de şanse, inclusiv egalitatea între femei şi bărbaţi în ceea ce priveşte şansele pe piaţa forţei de muncă şi tratamentul la locul de muncă;
- eliminarea oricărei forme de discriminare fondate pe gen;
- punerea în aplicare şi continuarea integrării dimensiunii privind egalitatea de şanse în toate sectoarele;
- controlul şi aplicarea acordurilor şi convenţiilor internaţionale privind drepturile femeii;
- politica de informare cu privire la femei.
