Delegation to Madrid - 4-6 November In preparation for the upcoming Spanish Presidency, a delegation of the FEMM committee visited the Spanish capital. During their visit, Members discussed the gender related aspects of the Presidency programme with the Minister for Equality, representatives of other governmental organizations as well as local NGOs. Vladimír Špidla on the last 5 years - 4 November The Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities presented his assessment of the activity of the Commission during the last five years to the Members of the FEMM Committee.
Exchange of views with the State Secretary, Ministry for Employment, Sweden At its meeting on 4 November, FEMM Members exchanged their views with Eva Uddén Sonnegård, State Secretary from the Swedish Presidency, on issues related to the work-life balance including in particular the maternity leave dossier.
Gender equality in balancing work and family rights and responsibilities - 4 November The Committee adopted a Motion for Resolution on the subject of the "reconciliation package" proposed by the Commission on 3 October 2008. The resolution is meant to wind-up the prospective debate in Plenary, following the Oral Questions to the Commission and the Council on the same subject.

Această comisie este competentă în chestiuni privind: - definirea, promovarea şi apărarea drepturilor femeii în Uniune şi măsurile luate în acest scop de către Comunitate;
- promovarea drepturilor femeii în ţările terţe;
- politica de egalitate de şanse, inclusiv egalitatea între femei şi bărbaţi în ceea ce priveşte şansele pe piaţa forţei de muncă şi tratamentul la locul de muncă;
- eliminarea oricărei forme de discriminare fondate pe gen;
- punerea în aplicare şi continuarea integrării dimensiunii privind egalitatea de şanse în toate sectoarele;
- controlul şi aplicarea acordurilor şi convenţiilor internaţionale privind drepturile femeii;
- politica de informare cu privire la femei.
