INTA Committee vote on negotiations for a plurilateral agreement on services

The Committee on International Trade will vote on a resolution setting its expectations for the negotiations for a plurilateral agreement on trade in services on 28.05.13. This agreement can potentially increase services trade between the EU and its developed trading partners and lower regulatory barriers, but it could also go counter to the WTO's General Agreement on Trade in Services.

IMCO Committee vote on online gambling in the internal market

The Committee on Internal Market and Consumer Protection will vote on the non-legislative report on online gambling, mainly focusing on consumer protection, administrative cooperation and follow-up of open infringement proceedings to ensure compliance with EU law. The meeting will take place on 30.05.13 in Brussels.

TRAN Fourth Railway Package: Committee discussion

The Transport Committee will hold a discussion on the 4th Railway Package, which seeks to deliver better quality and greater choice in European railway services. The first day of the meeting, on 29.05.13, will focus on interoperability, safety and the railway agency. The second day will focus on opening domestic passenger market and governance.

AFET Committee debate with Mexican Parliament; hearing on developments in Ukraine

The Committee on Foreign Affairs will discuss EU-Mexico relations and common foreign policy challenges, on 23.05.13 in Strasbourg, together with representatives of the Mexican Parliament. It will also hold a hearing on recent political developments and the implementation of reforms in Ukraine, with the participation of representatives from the Ukrainian opposition.

The Committee on Budgetary Control is holding a hearing on the implementation of financial assistance from the EU Budget in Greece (rapporteur: Jorgo CHATZIMARKAKIS (ALDE, DE)) on 28.05.13. Speakers include the former Greek Minister of National Economy, the Deputy Director from the think tank Bruegel, as well as representatives from the European Commission and the European Investment Bank.
