TTIP dispute settlement and arbitration

The JURI and INTA Committees held a Joint Hearing on 27 January 2015, entitled 'TTIP: Regulatory aspects and investor to state dispute settlement and arbitration'. The purpose of the hearing was to focus on the enforcement of TTIP's investment protection provisions and the possible alternatives to the investor-to-state dispute settlement mechanism, and on the regulatory coherence and the regulatory cooperation.

Latvian Presidency presents its international trade priorities to INTA

Presentation by Zanda Kalnina-Luka Ševica, Parliamentary State Secretary for EU affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, representing the President-in-Office of the Council, on the priorities of the Latvian Presidency in the area of International Trade Policy.

The Latvian Presidency priorities include advancing the ongoing negotiations (such as with the USA, Vietnam, Japan and China), working towards implementation of the WTO agreement reached in Bali, and advancing in or completing the on-going legislative procedures with the Parliament, namely the 'Conflict minerals' Regulation, the new Macro-financial assistance to Ukraine, Western Balkans' autonomous trade preferences, TDI modernisation, International Public Procurement Instrument and the 'Trade in torture goods' Regulation.

Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership

On 22 January 2015, the Commission presented to INTA Members its report of 13 January 2015 analysing the almost 150 000 replies to its on-line consultation on investment protection and investor-to-state dispute settlement (ISDS) in the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership Agreement (TTIP),  providing a factual overview of the results of the consultation.

Exchange of views with representatives of the EU Chamber of Commerce in China

on 22 January 2015, INTA Members listened to the presentation of Mr Jörg Wuttke, the President of the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China (EUCCC).

The EUCCC was founded in 2000 by 51 member companies that shared a goal of establishing a common voice for the various business sectors of the European Union and European businesses operating in China. It is a members-driven, non-profit, fee-based organisation representing European business in China. The European Chamber now has more than 1,800members in 7 chapters operating in 10 cities: Beijing, Chengdu, Chongqing, Nanjing, South China (Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Zhuhai), Shanghai, Shenyang and Tianjin. The Chamber is recognised by the European Commission and the Chinese Authorities as the official voice of European business in China.

MEPs to discuss investor protection and regulatory aspects of TTIP

Trade committee debate on new recommendations for TTIP talks

Trade Committee Chair Lange welcomes publication of TTIP texts

The EU Commission’s publication of legal texts proposed by the EU for eight chapters of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) deal was thanks to the European Parliament’s continuous and persistent demands for transparency, noted EP Trade Committee chair Bernd Lange (S&D, DE) on Wednesday.
