Energy debate with European Commissioner Oettinger at the EP in Brussels on Wednesday 24/09/2014

On 28 May ITRE Committee will welcome Commissioner Günther Oettinger, responsible for the Digital Economy & Society, to discuss the roadmap for completing the Digital Single Market. Mr Oettinger will focus on the initiatives of special relevance for ITRE such as the future reform of telecoms rules, the actions on cybersecurity, the initiatives around big data, Internet of Things and Cloud Computing, priorities for ICT standardisation, and the analysis of platforms, among others.

Structured Dialogue with Vice-President for the Digital Single Market Andrus Ansip

On 6 May ITRE Committee welcomed Vice-President Ansip, responsible for the Digital Single Market, within the framework of the "Structured Dialogue" between European Parliament and the Commission. Mr Ansip presented and held and exchange of views with ITRE Members on the Digital Single Market strategy.

Stop Vivisection: European Citizens' Initiative public hearing

A public hearing on the Stop Vivisection European Citizens' Initiative (ECI) was hosted by the European Parliament in order to provide a platform for debate for Members, the general public, the ECI's supporters and experts in the field. The ECI aims to repeal the Directive on the protection of animals used for scientific purposes and asks the European Commission to present a new proposal that does away with animal experimentation.

The hearing was organised by the AGRI committee in association with the ENVI, ITRE and PETI committees in Brussels on 11.05.15. Additional information: ECI.Hearing.StopVivisection@ep.europa.eu

Digital single market – committee chairs welcome proposal

The proposed Digital Single Market strategy is needed to build trust in the online world, boost growth and protect the rights of citizens, creators and companies. These were among the first reactions from the chairs of the three committees that will work intensively on today's Commission proposal. This afternoon and tomorrow morning, the Commissioners responsible will visit Parliament to discuss the proposal with MEPs. (Læs mere)

Med genindustrialisering som det overordnede mål vil ITRE-udvalget have fire prioritetsområder at koncentrere sig om.

Vi må først og fremmest sikre, at EU’s retlige og økonomiske rammer gør det muligt for den europæiske industrisektor at blive mere innovativ. Det vil kræve, at EU’s programmer inden for F & U samt uddannelse tilpasses og indrettes til at kunne reagere effektivt på industriens faktiske behov.
