On 4 May 2017, from 11.00 to 12.30, the Committee on Legal Affairs held a public hearing on the Commission's proposal for a Regulation laying down rules on the exercise of copyright and related rights applicable to certain online transmissions of broadcasting organisations and retransmissions of television and radio programmes.

This proposed regulation is better known as the Cab-Sat regulation and forms part of the copyright package which was presented by the Commission on 14 September 2016.
In addition to a brief presentation of the proposal by the Commission services, the Committee heard diverse expert perspectives on the proposal from stakeholders representing public service media, commercial television, business and academia.
