PETI New European Ombudsman: hearing of candidates

The Committee on Petitions is holding a hearing with the candidates for the next European Ombudsman on 18.06.13. The aim of the hearing is for candidates to present their programmes, while answering the questions posed to them by Members of the European Parliament, ahead of the election scheduled for the plenary session of July 2013 in Strasbourg.

DROI Debate with Martin Schulz, President of the European Parliament

The Subcommittee on Human Rights will meet the President of the European Parliament, Martin Schulz, on 19.06.13. The President will brief the Subcommittee about activities undertaken in the field of human rights, including his latest visits in third countries. This meeting will also be an opportunity to assess the EU Human Rights Strategy and Action Plan one year after their adoption.

AGRI CAP reform: report on state of play with Irish Presidency

Parliament's rapporteurs will report on the progress made so far in trilogue negotiations on the CAP reform files: direct payments to farmers and rural development (Luis Manuel Capoulas Santos - S&D, PT), the common market organisation (Michel Dantin - EPP, FR), and horizontal rules and financing (Giovanni La Via - EPP, IT). The meeting will take place on 19.06.13 in the presence of Irish Presidency representatives.

EMPL Vote on the posting of workers in the framework of the provision of services

Following a consideration of compromise amendments on 19.06.13, the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs will vote on the legislative report on the posting of workers in the framework of the provision of services on 20.06.13. The general objective of the Commission proposal is to improve the current legislation, in place since 1996.

ENVI Vote on ETS backloading and fluorinated greenhouse gases

The Committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety will vote on the following legislative files: the Emissions Trading Scheme backloading amendments, tabled to the original Commission proposal after the plenary rejection in April; and the flourinated greenhouse gases regulation proposing to reduce non-CO2 gas emissions. Both votes are essential for the overall EU target to reduce emissions by 80-95 % on 1990 levels by 2050 and thus slowing the rate of climate change. The meeting will take place on 19.06.13.
