Assessment of Recent Developments and Recommendations for Future Policies

Following disregard in the 1980s, industrial policy has recently attracted policy attention at EU level. The objective of this study provided by Policy Department A at the request of the ITRE Committee, is to establish the state of the art of a coordinated and integrated EU industrial policy. It assesses current initiatives, policies and arrangements and proposes an overview of stakeholders' positions at EU and national levels in order to feed into the debate on how to improve competitiveness and growth in Europe.

How the European Investment Bank is key to advancing Juncker's €315-billion plan by attracting private investors and boosting Europe's economy.

The Committee on Industry, Research and Energy will discuss its opinion on the establishment of a European Fund for Strategic Investments (EFSI) during its meeting of 09.03.15 in Strasbourg. The recently proposed regulation setting up the EFSI provides for a guarantee of 21 billion Euro, together with the establishment of a European Investment Advisory Hub and a European Investment Project Pipeline.

The Committee on Industry, Research and Energy will hold a public hearing jointly with the Committee on International Trade on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership trade agreement - which is currently being negotiated with the US. The hearing will be held on 24.02.15 and will focus particularly on the TTIP's potential impact on the EU's industrial, research, innovation and energy policies.

Better regulation, the digital economy and society: committee debates - 23-24.02.15

The Committee on Industry, Research and Energy will discuss the issue of better regulation in the policy areas for which it is responsible together with Commission First Vice-President Frans Timmermans on 23.02.15. The Committee will also hold a structured dialogue with Günther Oettinger, Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society on 24.02.15.

Ocean Research in Horizon 2020: The Blue Growth Potential

This study, provided by the Policy Department A at the request of the ITRE committee, aims to provide a description of the key blue growth sectors of the economy along with the EU potential to exploit them in a sustainable and competitive manner. Apart from the Blue Growth strategy and objectives, it describes its impact on growth and job creation. The report provides an analytical insight as well as policy recommendations on the key issues concerning blue economy and blue growth.

Med genindustrialisering som det overordnede mål vil ITRE-udvalget have fire prioritetsområder at koncentrere sig om.

Vi må først og fremmest sikre, at EU’s retlige og økonomiske rammer gør det muligt for den europæiske industrisektor at blive mere innovativ. Det vil kræve, at EU’s programmer inden for F & U samt uddannelse tilpasses og indrettes til at kunne reagere effektivt på industriens faktiske behov.
