Performance and prospects of would-be Slovak Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič for Energy Union.

In the Extraordinary Committee meeting on 26 January, the Vice President presented the state of play in discussions on the creation of a European Energy Union. The Commission is expected to present a Communication on this issue in February. The aim of the energy union will be to pool the Resource, combine its infrastructures and reinforce its negotiating power with third countries. Another important objective is to reduce the EU's dependency on fuel and gas imports, while at the same time combating climate change, by using more energy from renewable sources and becoming more energy efficient.

Med genindustrialisering som det overordnede mål vil ITRE-udvalget have fire prioritetsområder at koncentrere sig om.

Vi må først og fremmest sikre, at EU’s retlige og økonomiske rammer gør det muligt for den europæiske industrisektor at blive mere innovativ. Det vil kræve, at EU’s programmer inden for F & U samt uddannelse tilpasses og indrettes til at kunne reagere effektivt på industriens faktiske behov.
