Herzlich willkommen auf den Webseiten des Haushaltskontrollausschusses (CONT). Mit dieser Seite sollten die Bürgerinnen und Bürger die Möglichkeit erhalten, unsere Arbeit zu verfolgen.
 
Der CONT-Ausschuss stellt fest, wie die Haushaltsmittel der EU ausgegeben und ob die gesetzten Ziele tatsächlich erreicht werden, inwieweit die Programme zu einem echten Mehrwert führen und inwieweit gewährleistet ist, dass das Geld der europäischen Steuerzahler effizient, wirksam und nach Maßgabe der Rechtsvorschriften der Europäischen Union ausgegeben wird. In diesem Zusammenhang steht der Ausschuss eng mit dem Europäischen Rechnungshof in Verbindung und schlägt auf der Grundlage der Ergebnisse der Prüfvorgänge des Rechnungshofs Verbesserungen im Hinblick auf die Gewährleistung einer wirtschaftlichen Haushaltsführung vor.
 
Außerdem steht der Ausschuss mit dem Amt für Betrugsbekämpfung (OLAF) in Verbindung, um noch intensiver gegen Betrug und Korruption im Zusammenhang mit dem EU-Haushalt vorzugehen.
 
Das wichtigste Werkzeug, das dem CONT-Ausschuss zur Verfügung steht, ist das sogenannte „Entlastungsverfahren“. Während dieses Verfahrens prüft der CONT-Ausschuss den Vollzug des EU-Haushalts durch alle Beteiligten, u.a. die Kommission, das Parlament sowie andere Organe und Einrichtungen.
