The Committee on Petitions will discuss number of petitions bearing large number of signatures on the Regulation on Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH). The petitioners claim that this Regulation is unethical and ineffective because millions of animals suffer a cruel death in tests involving highly toxic chemicals.

Some EU central banks knew about US access to SWIFT data

Mortgage banking practices and mortgage legislation as well as alleged abuses related to the sale of financial instruments in Spain will be discussed by the Committee on Petitions during its meeting of 16.04.2015. The petitioners point out practices employed by the banks in Spain which in their view breach their consumer rights.

At its meeting of 16 April 2015 the PETI Committee will vote on the following opinions:

- Opinion on the Recommendations to the European Commission  on the negotiations for the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) (rapporteur - Jarosław Wałęsa (EPP), lead committee - INTA)

-Opinion on the Annual Report on the situation of fundamental rights in the EU (2013-2014) (rapporteur - Soledad Cabezón Ruiz (S-D), lead committee - LIBE)

Follow-up to the recommendations of the report to the fact-finding visit to Greece: committee debate - 16.04.15

The Committee will discuss follow-up to the recommendations of the PETI report to the fact-finding visit to Greece, which took place on 18 - 20 September 2013,  concerning waste management in Attica, Peloponnese, Thesprotia and Corfu
