The Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs and the Committee on Budgetary Control will hear the three shortlisted candidates for the post of European Chief Prosecutor, on 26.01.19. The appointed European Chief Prosecutor will be the head of the European Public Prosecutor Office (EPPO), which was established in 2017.
The Committee on Legal Affairs will vote on the provisional interinstitutional agreement on copyright in the Digital Single Market, on 26.01.19. During the same meeting, the Committee will also vote on the provisional interinstitutional agreement on the supplementary protection certificate for medicinal products.
The Committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety will vote on the provisional interinstitutional agreement on setting CO2 emission performance standards for new heavy-duty vehicles. The text deals with, amongst other things, the 2025 and 2030 binding CO2 targets, the benchmark incentive system for zero and low-emission vehicles as from 2025, governance, lifecycle analysis, and transition of the sector. The meeting will take place on 27.02.19.
The Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs will hold hearings with the candidates selected for the positions of member of the Executive Board of the European Central Bank (Philip Lane), Chair of the European Banking Authority (José Manuel Campa), and member of the Single Resolution Board (Sebastiano Laviola). The meeting will take place on 26.02.19.
The Committee on Budgets will look into the amendments to the draft guidelines on the EU budget for 2020 as prepared by general rapporteur Monika Hohlmeier. The amendments deal with all indicated political priorities, including innovation and research, competitiveness and economic growth, a safe, secure and peaceful Europe, citizens’ work and living conditions, and the fight against environmental challenges and climate change. The meeting will take place on 26.02.19.
The Committees on Development and on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety will vote on the annual strategic report on the implementation and delivery of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs are a key driver of the ongoing UN reform and of major transformations of longer-term policy planning in many countries worldwide. This report will allow Parliament to react to the Commission Reflection Paper ‘Towards a Sustainable Europe by 2030’. The meeting will take place on 27.02.18.
