A committee is permitted to organise a hearing with experts, where this is considered essential to its work on a particular subject. Hearings can also be held jointly by two or more committees. Most committees organise regular hearings, as they allow them to hear from experts and hold discussions on the key issues. CAP reform

On 4 December, the AGRI Committee, in association with the ENVI committee, organised a public hearing on the reform of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). This meeting took place during the current legislative work on the CAP beyond 2020. It addressed the components of the CAP reform package, as amended by the AGRI Committee, which might be appropriate for further consideration.

The hearing was divided in three panels relating to, respectively, the Strategic Plans; the Financing, Management and Monitoring of the CAP, and the Common Organisation of the Markets.
