A committee is permitted to organise a hearing with experts, where this is considered essential to its work on a particular subject. Hearings can also be held jointly by two or more committees. Most committees organise regular hearings, as they allow them to hear from experts and hold discussions on the key issues. On this page you will find all the available information relating to committee hearings, including programmes and contributions from speakers.

Poster for BUDG hearing on Financial Instruments, grants and other means of financing

On 19 June (15.15 to 18.00) BUDG held a public hearing on "Financial instruments, grants and other means of financing: how to choose the right tool?", under the auspices of BUDG's chair, Mr Jean Arthuis (ALDE) and the standing rapporteur for financial instruments, Ms Eider Gardiazabal (S&D). This hearing brought together experts and practitioners with the aim of providing the Members of Parliament with a thorough analysis of the use of financial instruments versus grants.

It gave practitioners directly involved in the direct management of EU projects the opportunity to exchange views on how to improve the use and the selection of financial instruments.
Speakers were Dr. Jorge Núñez Ferrer (CEPS), Mr David Denzer-Speck (KfW), Mr Anatolio Alonso Pardo (Ministry of Hacienda y Función Pública, Spain) and Ms Zsuzsanna Hargitai (EBRD).
