Committee on Budgets

On Monday 22 April, from 20.00 to 22.00, Members from the Committee on Budgets and the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs will hold the 15th Recovery and Resilience Dialogue with Valdis Dombrovskis, Executive Vice-President responsible for an Economy that Works for People, also in charge of Trade, and Paolo Gentiloni, Commissioner for Economy.

Members debated the consequences of the revision of the EU's long-term budget (MFF) on climate and biodiversity mainstreaming with Franck Conrad, Head of Unit for Budget Performance and Policy Mainstreaming in the European Commission (DG BUDGET).

Members approved two draft reports on the proposals of the Commission to mobilize the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund for Displaced Workers (EGF) in favour of German and Danish displaced workers.

Members of the Committees on Budgets and Budgetary Control will receive the European Court of Auditors (ECA) to present its special report on the rule of law in the EU and the protection of the EU's financial interests, focusing on the Conditionality Regulation.

On Monday 11 March, the committees on Foreign Affairs and on Budgets adopted the report on the Commission's proposal for Establishing the Reform and Growth Facility for the Western Balkans. The report prepared jointly by the two committees proposes more safeguards for the “fundamentals-first approach”, strengthening the focus on rule of law and conditionality and linking this with economic and social development.

Members from the Committees on Budgets and on Culture and Education debated the accessibility of the Erasmus+ programme for people with fewer opportunities with Iliana Ivanova, Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, and Stéphanie Riso, Director General for Budget, European Commission.
