Hearings


A committee is permitted to organise a hearing with experts, where this is considered essential to its work on a particular subject. Hearings can also be held jointly by two or more committees. Most committees organise regular hearings, as they allow them to hear from experts and hold discussions on the key issues. 20-06-2017 - Hearing of Commissioner-designate Ms Mariya Gabriel

On 20 June ITRE and CULT held the hearing of Commissioner-designate Gabriel, who was nominated by the European Commission to take over the responsibility for the Digital Economy and Society portfolio. Associated Committees were IMCO, JURI and LIBE. ITRE and CULT Coordinators then met on Wednesday 21 June to assess the hearing so that Mr Buzek, ITRE Chair, and Ms Kammerevert, CULT Chair, could inform the President of Parliament in view of a decision during the July plenary.
