A committee is permitted to organise a hearing with experts, where this is considered essential to its work on a particular subject. Hearings can also be held jointly by two or more committees. Most committees organise regular hearings, as they allow them to hear from experts and hold discussions on the key issues. The CULT Committee held a public hearing on 15.10.15. The purpose of the hearing was to debate issues relating to the prevention of radicalisation and the possible approaches to prevent the various forms of radicalisation in the European society.

The specific role of education and intercultural dialogue in paving the way to mutual understanding was also emphasised on this occasion.
