A committee is permitted to organise a hearing with experts, where this is considered essential to its work on a particular subject. Hearings can also be held jointly by two or more committees. Most committees organise regular hearings, as they allow them to hear from experts and hold discussions on the key issues. The future of the EU's Humanitarian Aid

With participants including Commissioner Stylianides and representatives from UN OCHA, the International Committee and International Federation of the Red Cross (ICRC/IFRC) and the NGO Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), this public hearing on the future of the EU’s humanitarian aid provided Members the opportunity to discuss with stakeholders key humanitarian challenges, and the way forward to address these, including commitments made at the World Humanitarian Summit.

This last hearing of the DEVE Committee served to draw lessons and inform the future work during the European Parliament's IX legislature.
