A committee is permitted to organise a hearing with experts, where this is considered essential to its work on a particular subject. Hearings can also be held jointly by two or more committees. Most committees organise regular hearings, as they allow them to hear from experts and hold discussions on the key issues. This year marks the 60th anniversary of UN General Assembly Declaration of the Rights of the Child and the 30th Anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

To renew its pledge to protect and promote children's rights, the European Parliament will organise a High-Level Conference on 20 November 2019 to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the UNCRC, to acknowledge the progress made over three decades and to reflect on the challenges ahead in a global and digital world.

Registration for the conference is open from 14 October 2019 to 13 November 2019.

The High-Level conference will be held in the European Parliament Plenary Chamber in Brussels.
