A committee is permitted to organise a hearing with experts, where this is considered essential to its work on a particular subject. Hearings can also be held jointly by two or more committees. Most committees organise regular hearings, as they allow them to hear from experts and hold discussions on the key issues. Four experts from Portugal, Sweden, the Czech Republic and Belgium will debate with TRAN Members on the role of public transport in low-density areas. They will raise the specific characteristics and challenges faced by those areas and the resulting importance of services ensuring mobility. The hearing should provide an overview of good practices and case studies and would outline possible recommendations (logistics, pricing policies, etc.) for the future.

The hearing will take place on Wednesday afternoon, 19 February 2020 in room ANTALL 4Q1 from where it will be webstreamed.
