TERR Mission to Madrid

The mission started with a meeting with Secretary of State - Director of the National Intelligence Centre (CNI) Army General (R) F. Sanz Roldán. Members then exchanged views with the prosecutors and judges in charge of terrorism cases at the Audiencia nacional.

Members met J.A. Nieto Ballesteros, State secretary to security and with Mr. A. Yuste Castelló, Secretary General of penitentiary institutions. Finally a very comprehensive exchange with the Director of CITCO (Center of Intelligence on Terrorism and Organised Crime), and high officials from National Police and Guardia Civil, took place. Assistance to victims was also part of the programme of the delegation, and members heard Mr Florencio Domínguez Iribarren, President of the Centre for the memory of victims of terrorism.

The mission ended with a field visit on the management of the security of a public infrastructure (Atocha station and Police coordination centre) and the Memorial of the victims of the attacks of Atocha.
