Meetings with National Parliaments


The European Parliaments’ committees may directly engage in a dialogue with national parliaments at committee level. This may include meetings that bring together MPs and MEPs from corresponding committees, to discuss matters of common concern.

The Committees on Legal Affairs and on Petitions will hold an Interparliamentary Committee Meeting on 27.11.18, to discuss the empowerment of parliaments and the enforcement of citizens’ rights in the implementation and application of EU law. The debates will focus on transposition, implementation and application of EU law - including from the national parliaments’ perspective - and on the role of complaints to ombudsmen and petitions to parliaments as instruments to detect breaches of EU law.
