Hearings


A committee is permitted to organise a hearing with experts, where this is considered essential to its work on a particular subject. Hearings can also be held jointly by two or more committees. Most committees organise regular hearings, as they allow them to hear from experts and hold discussions on the key issues. On this page you will find all the available information relating to committee hearings, including programmes and contributions from speakers.

20-06-2017 - Hearing of Commissioner-designate Ms Mariya Gabriel

On 20 June ITRE and CULT will hold the hearing of Commissioner-designate Gabriel, who was nominated by the European Commission to take over the responsibility for the Digital Economy and Society portfolio. Associated Committees are IMCO, JURI and LIBE. ITRE and CULT Coordinators will then meet on Wednesday 21 June to assess the hearing so that Mr Buzek, ITRE Chair, and Ms Kammerevert, CULT Chair, can inform the President of Parliament in view of a decision during the July plenary. On 26 January 2017 ITRE is organising a public hearing to discuss and gather expertise on the future of electronic communications. The organisation of this hearing is based on the proposal for a European Electronic Communications Code and the proposal for a BEREC Regulation that the Commission adopted as part of the Connectivity Package on 14 September 2016.
