A committee is permitted to organise a hearing with experts, where this is considered essential to its work on a particular subject. Hearings can also be held jointly by two or more committees. Most committees organise regular hearings, as they allow them to hear from experts and hold discussions on the key issues. 13-10-2016 - Towards an mHealth Framework for Europe

ITRE ENVI 06-12-2017 - 16:42

On 13 October, ITRE and ENVI organised a hearing to look at the development of mobile Health in Europe and its potential for ensuring better prevention and monitoring through health and well-being apps. It also looked at some of the challenges, such as the issues of interoperability and big data/data protection.

The European Commission has been active on mHealth, publishing a Green Paper, holding a public consultation, paving the way for an industry-led code of conduct on mobile health apps as well as funding research activities in the domain under Horizon 2020.

This hearing was a good opportunity for the European Parliament to be part of a multi-stakeholder dialogue on overcoming the barriers to better integrated care.
