A committee is permitted to organise a hearing with experts, where this is considered essential to its work on a particular subject. Hearings can also be held jointly by two or more committees. Most committees organise regular hearings, as they allow them to hear from experts and hold discussions on the key issues. On this page you will find all the available information relating to committee hearings, including programmes and contributions from speakers.

On 10 October, the JURI Committee will have a presentation and a hearing on collective redress (15.30-17.00). The event is organised in the context of the current parliamentary work on the Commission’s proposal for a directive on representative actions for the protection of the collective interests of consumers.

The proposal is part of the "New Deal for Consumers", included in the 2018 Commission Work Programme so as to improve the effectiveness of the injunction procedure and contribute to the elimination of the consequences of the infringements of Union law which affect the collective interests of consumers.
The Members of JURI Committee will first have the presentation of a study and then have the possibility to hear experts and have a discussion in the format of a hearing.
