A committee is permitted to organise a hearing with experts, where this is considered essential to its work on a particular subject. Hearings can also be held jointly by two or more committees. Most committees organise regular hearings, as they allow them to hear from experts and hold discussions on the key issues. JURI/INTA Joint Hearing on TTIP

The JURI and INTA Committees held a Joint Hearing on 27 January 2015, entitled 'TTIP: Regulatory aspects and investor to state dispute settlement and arbitration'. The purpose of the hearing was to focus on the enforcement of TTIP's investment protection provisions and the possible alternatives to the investor-to-state dispute settlement mechanism, and on the regulatory coherence and the regulatory cooperation.
