In its Resolution of 23 October 2013 on organised crime, corruption and money laundering: recommendations on action and initiatives to be taken the European Parliament identified 21 concrete measures to fight organised crime and corruption, which need to be implemented in the period 2014-2019.

The Parliament instructed the LIBE Committee to make sure that those recommendations have been duly implemented at political and institutional level and, where appropriate, to hear experts, set up working groups and adopt follow-up reports.

The LIBE Committee has now undertaken to follow up on the work of the CRIM Committee, notably on the implementation of its recommendations, with a view to prioritising action in key sectors and improving available legal tools in the fight against corruption and organised crime. The current hearing is organised in the frame of the preparatory process for the LIBE own-initiative report on Fight against corruption and follow-up of the CRIM committee resolution (2015/2110(INI)).
