A committee is permitted to organise a hearing with experts, where this is considered essential to its work on a particular subject. Hearings can also be held jointly by two or more committees. Most committees organise regular hearings, as they allow them to hear from experts and hold discussions on the key issues. Facebook/Cambridge Analytica

The Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs will hold the third hearing on the Facebook/Cambridge Analytica case, on 2 July 2018 in Strasbourg.

This hearing will give Members the opportunity to exchange views with Facebook representatives on how they intend to implement legislation that is currently in force and how they commit to avoiding similar cases to reoccur. The last part of this hearing will include discussing policy solutions and remedies, including implementation of current legislation, with European Commissioners concerned.
