Welcome to the website of the European Parliament PANA Committee of Inquiry!
Following the Panama Papers leaks, the European Parliament decided on 8 June 2016, to establish a Committee of inquiry to investigate alleged contraventions and maladministration in the application of Union law in relation to money laundering, tax avoidance and tax evasion (the PANA committee).
During its twelve-month mandate, the 65 Committee members and the 65 substitute members will have the opportunity to investigate the alleged failures. Organizing hearings with experts and fact finding missions, inviting witnesses, requesting and scrutinising confidential information related to the mandate are some of the instruments that will be used by the Committee. At the end of the twelve-month period, a report will be submitted.
As I declared after my election I think that tax justice and fair tax competition are essential elements of the European Single Market as well as a fair global system of labour division in the context of globalisation. This year I want to have clarifications and make suggestions on what went wrong in the last few years and decades. I therefore invite you to follow closely our Committee work through this site where you will find meeting documents, webstreaming and our regular newsletter.
I wish you a nice visit on our website.
