Notices to members are used by the committees to transmit information to their members that does not fit into one of the other document types. For example, information such as a summary of a delegation visit, a meeting with an expert, questions to a Commissioner, or the publication of petitions received.

Welcome words

Article 3 of the Treaty on European Union states that "The Union shall promote economic, social and territorial cohesion, and solidarity among Member States". To do this the resources of the structural funds are used to support a well developed Regional development policy which interacts with other policies, notably research, energy and transport, to achieve its aims.

The Committee on Regional Development, which I have the honour to chair, is responsible for ensuring that the Union and its Member States conduct economic policy in a way which is conducive to achieving this objective. To do this we work closely with the Union Presidency, the Council, the European Commission, as well as with EU's advisory bodies such as the Committee of the Regions the Economic and Social Committee and many other regional and local organisations.

The 50 Committee Members and 50 substitutes represent all the EP's political groups which through their coordinators work with the committee's Bureau to organise our activities.

In this website you will be able to find detailed information of our legislative and political activities and may follow our meeting on the web, through EP Live.
