Con gran placer le damos la bienvenida a la página Internet de la Comisión de Control Presupuestario (CONT). Este sitio ha sido creado para hacer posible que los ciudadanos sigan el trabajo de esta comisión.
 
La Comisión CONT examina cómo se gasta el presupuesto de la Unión Europea, si se han cumplido correctamente los objetivos y si los programas ofrecen una buena relación coste-resultados, a fin de garantizar que el dinero de los contribuyentes se utilice de manera eficiente, con toda eficacia y de conformidad con la legislación de la UE. En este contexto, la comisión mantiene una estrecha relación con el Tribunal de Cuentas y sugiere mejoras sobre la base de los resultados de las auditorías realizadas por el Tribunal a fin de garantizar una buena gestión financiera.
 
Además, la comisión CONT coopera con la Oficina Europea de Lucha contra el Fraude (OLAF) para reforzar la lucha contra el fraude y la corrupción en relación con el presupuesto de la UE.
 
El instrumento principal de que dispone la Comisión CONT es el procedimiento de «aprobación de la gestión». En el curso de este procedimiento, la comisión examina detalladamente la ejecución del presupuesto de la UE por todos los actores interesados, es decir, entre otros, la Comisión, el Parlamento y otras instituciones y agencias.
