On Thursday 29 January 2015 in the morning, the ENVI Committee will vote on the question for oral answer on Alcohol strategy and also consider the motion for a resolution on the same topic. Meat used as an ingredient in processed foods, such as lasagne, should be labelled by country of origin as is already the case for bovine fresh meat, said Environment, Public Health and Food Safety Committee MEPs on Wednesday. They call on the European Commission, which published a report on the issue in late 2013, to come up with legislative proposals in order to rebuild consumer confidence in the wake of the horsemeat scandal and other food fraud cases. The fight against climate change is at the core of the committee's work. It will be high on the agenda early in this legislature, in view of upcoming climate summits which will be critical for the adoption of an international climate agreement, expected in 2015. The cultivation of GMOs and their possible restriction or prohibition in Member States will be another area of focus at the outset of this parliamentary term.
