Mot de bienvenue

Bienvenue sur le site de la sous-commission "droits de l'homme" du Parlement européen qui, depuis son rétablissement en 2004, est devenue un espace européen d'importance pour la défense des droits de l'homme à l'échelle internationale.

La sous-commission, que désigne l'acronyme DROI, organise des auditions et des débats sur des questions de toute nature concernant les droits de l'homme. Ces discussions donnent lieu à l'adoption de rapports et de résolutions qui nourrissent le débat international sur des thèmes tels que la peine de mort, la torture ou encore la lutte contre l'impunité. De même, nous nous efforçons de réagir aussi rapidement que possible aux violations des droits de l'homme dans le monde entier en donnant la parole aux personnes les plus touchées.

Le rapport annuel sur les droits de l'homme, qui rend compte de la situation dans le monde, est aussi rédigé au sein de la sous-commission DROI. Un autre moment fort de notre travail réside dans l'attribution du prix Sakharov pour la liberté de l'esprit, décerné chaque année, au mois de décembre, à des citoyens ou des organisations engagés dans la lutte pour les droits de l'homme et des libertés fondamentales. En 2013, nous célèbrerons le 25^e anniversaire de ce prix.

Notre site vous permet de suivre nos réunions en ligne et de télécharger tous nos documents. Il est en effet important que nos travaux puissent être consultés car les contributions et les informations récentes que nous transmettent les défenseurs des droits de l'homme, les citoyens et les ONG nous sont très utiles.
