French Minister of Finance, Michel Sapin will participate in an Economic Dialogue and exchange of views in ECON on 7 May. Minister Sapin will present his views on latest economic developments for France and the recent publication of the 2015 National Reform Programme (NRP) and Stability Programme (SP) to be examined by the Commission. He will detail the measures France plans to implement in order to comply with the EDP recommendation to put an end to the excessive deficit in 2017.

The meeting will take place on 7 May 2015, 9.00 - 10.30 in Brussels room PHS 3C050 and will be web streamed.

Chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC)

The Chairman of the U.S.  Commodity Futures Trading Commission, Timothy G. Massad will appear in ECON for an exchange of views on the 6th May. The discussion will focus on Global derivatives reform, in particular the EU equivalence regarding central counterparts (CCPs) and trading platforms, and on benchmarks regulation.

Exchange of views will take on 6 May 2015, 14.15 - 15.30 in Brussels room PHS 3C050 and will be web streamed.

EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT (EP) – Open call for tender for the provision of external expertise in the field of banking supervision and resolution ("Expert Panel on Banking Union")

The EP's Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON) and especially the Banking Union Working Group (BUWG) established by ECON seeks independent expert advice in the field of banking supervision and resolution. The chosen experts will be asked to regularly contribute to the preparations of the hearings in the framework of the Single Supervisory Mechanism and the Single Resolution Mechanism as well as for any other purpose arising from the on-going works of the BUWG. The expertise will be requested in the form of the written papers and related services as appropriate. The official call for tender notice can be found in the Official Journal of the EU. Updating payment service rules: MEPs do deal with the Council

EU rules on payment services would be updated to improve security, widen consumer choice and keep pace with innovation under an informal deal struck by Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee MEPs and the Latvian Presidency of the Council on Tuesday. The updated rules aim to stimulate competition to provide payment services and foster innovative payment methods, especially for online payment services. Fonds d'investissements stratégiques: les commissions pour le plan Juncker

Un mandat de négociation sur le plan Juncker en faveur d'un Fonds européen pour les investissements stratégiques (FEIS) pour garantir la croissance et la création d'emplois a été soutenu en commissions des budgets et des affaires économiques. Cependant, les députés ont contesté les projets visant à alimenter le Fonds à partir des budgets européens d'investissements pour la recherche et les transports, et appelé à un contrôle parlementaire accru concernant le leadership et les objectifs du Fonds. La prise de décision économique de la Commission doit devenir plus neutre, a affirmé la commission des affaires économiques lors d'un débat avec le vice-président de la Commission, M. Dombrovskis, et le commissaire Moscovici. Les députés s'inquiètent de la faible mise en œuvre des recommandations spécifiques adressées par la Commission à chaque pays et se demandent ce qu'elle pourrait faire concernant les excédents très élevés des comptes courants en Allemagne et dans d'autres pays exportateurs.
