Une commission peut organiser une audition d'experts lorsqu'elle estime que celle-ci est indispensable pour ses travaux sur une question déterminée. Les auditions peuvent aussi être conduites conjointement par deux commissions ou plus. La plupart des commissions organisent régulièrement des auditions, qui leur permettent de connaître les points de vue d'experts et de débattre sur de grands enjeux. In September 2015, ENVI adopted its position on the Commission proposal of January 2014 on the reduction of pollutant emissions from road vehicles. A key feature of ENVI's position is that test procedures for certain pollutant emissions should reflect real driving conditions, a timely response given the revelation of Volkswagen's use of defeat devices in laboratory emissions testing. This hearing will host expert speakers, aiming to inform ENVI on the development of real driving emissions tests. (Lire la suite)

The European Commission presented in July 2015 a legislative proposal to revise the EU emissions trading system for the period after 2020. The reform is the first step in delivering on the EU's target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 40% domestically by 2030 in line with the 2030 climate and energy policy framework and as part of its contribution to the new global climate deal. The proposal will be analysed by several experts and discussed with the Members of the ENVI Committee. (Lire la suite)
