Auditions


Une commission peut organiser une audition d'experts lorsqu'elle estime que celle-ci est indispensable pour ses travaux sur une question déterminée. Les auditions peuvent aussi être conduites conjointement par deux commissions ou plus. La plupart des commissions organisent régulièrement des auditions, qui leur permettent de connaître les points de vue d'experts et de débattre sur de grands enjeux. On 12 July IMCO held a public hearing on the implementation of the Late Payment Directive. The first panel examined business-to-business (B2B) transactions, featuring speakers representing business associations. The second panel focused on public authorities-to-businesses transactions (P2B), with speakers concentrating on problems reported on the ground and on measures that could be employed by public administrations to tackle this issue. On 11 July IMCO held a public hearing on the post-REFIT proposal on the revision of consumer law. Members, and experts discussed on better enforcement and modernisation of EU consumer protection rules. The hearing addressed broadly the emergence of unfair practices in platform to business relationships bearing in mind the increasingly important role of online platforms as vehicles for market access and explored any problems that may arise in terms of lack of redress and more broadly the risk of fragmentation in the internal market. The hearing will be organised in 2 panel discussions with invited experts. The first panel of experts will exchange views on "Tackling administrative and regulatory barriers in the Services market" with a focus on whether there is a case for the Services e-card, whether COM proposal is the appropriate measure to tackle persisting problems, and whether it will lower the existing barriers. On 20 June ITRE and CULT held the hearing of Commissioner-designate Gabriel, who was nominated by the European Commission to take over the responsibility for the Digital Economy and Society portfolio. Associated Committees were IMCO, JURI and LIBE. ITRE and CULT Coordinators then met on Wednesday 21 June to assess the hearing so that Mr Buzek, ITRE Chair, and Ms Kammerevert, CULT Chair, could inform the President of Parliament in view of a decision during the July plenary. On 21 March, IMCO will hold a public hearing on the proposed directive establishing a European Electronic Communications Code (ITRE lead Committeee, IMCO associated Committee with Dita Charanzova, ALDE, as rapporteur). European Youth Hearing in IMCO

Thousands of young people took part in the European Youth Event (#EYE2016) at the EP in Strasbourg last May with the aim of producing ideas for Europe’s future. Former EYE2016 participants presented some of the most impactful ideas collected and exchanged views with MEPs, with the aim of having an impact on the future agenda of the EU and make positive change.
