Une commission peut organiser une audition d''experts lorsqu''elle estime que celle-ci est indispensable pour ses travaux sur une question déterminée. Les auditions peuvent aussi être conduites conjointement par deux commissions ou plus. La plupart des commissions organisent régulièrement des auditions, qui leur permettent de connaître les points de vue d''experts et de débattre sur de grands enjeux. Most clothes and apparel that we wear every day are imported to the European Union. The conditions under which they are produced in third countries often remain opaque for the European consumer. Not least the tragic collapse of the Rana Planza building in 2013 where more than 1100 textile workers were killed, triggered rising awareness among policy makers and consumers about the global value chain of the textile and garment industry.

The EU is the biggest investor in the area, which includes four (China, Japan, South Korea and India) out of the EU’s top 10 global trading partners. The EU currently has four bilateral trade agreements in place in the region (with Japan, Singapore, South Korea and Vietnam).
In the public hearing "Trade-related aspects of the Protocol on Ireland/Northern Ireland" INTA committee will hear views from stakeholders coming from Northern Ireland and the EU on the specific trade challenges experienced so far in the implementation of the Protocol.
