At its next meeting on 29 August, the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs discussed the draft report on the Commission proposal for a regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on the European Social Fund Plus. To support the Committee work on this file, the European Parliament's Policy Department organises a workshop on "European Social Fund Plus: lessons from the current funding period".

This workshop brings together results from two studies having been prepared at request of the EMPL Committee as well as other analytical, political and practical expertise.Topics include:

• ESF absorption: a matter of quantity and quality (László Andor, Corvinus University Budapest, former Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion)

• ESF and beneficiaries' experience in the current funding period (Manuela Samek, IRS, Milano)

• The use of ESF and FEAD to fight child poverty (Haroldas Brožaitis, PPMI, Vilnius)

• Selected lessons from the ESF transnationality (Discussant: Valentina Caimi, AEIDL, Brussels)
