AFET Committee debate with Mexican Parliament; hearing on developments in Ukraine

The Committee on Foreign Affairs will discuss EU-Mexico relations and common foreign policy challenges, on 23.05.13 in Strasbourg, together with representatives of the Mexican Parliament. It will also hold a hearing on recent political developments and the implementation of reforms in Ukraine, with the participation of representatives from the Ukrainian opposition.

AGRI Structured Dialogue with Commissioner Ciolos

Agriculture Commissioner Dacian Ciolos will speak in the Committee for Agriculture as part of the "structured dialogue" between the Commission and the Parliament. This will be an opportunity for Members to get the Commissioner's views on the progress made in the CAP reform talks as well as on other issues such as financial discipline. The meeting will take place on 29.05.13 in Brussels.

CONT Hearing on implementing financial assistance from the EU Budget in Greece

The Committee on Budgetary Control is holding a hearing on the implementation of financial assistance from the EU Budget in Greece (rapporteur: Jorgo CHATZIMARKAKIS (ALDE, DE)) on 28.05.13. Speakers include the former Greek Minister of National Economy, the Deputy Director from the think tank Bruegel, as well as representatives from the European Commission and the European Investment Bank.

Human rights Russia  
DROI Committee debate on the human rights situation in Russia

The Subcommittee on Human Rights will hold a debate on the human rights situation in Russia on 28.05.13 in Brussels. The two main topics of discussion will be: the fate of political prisoners, including the Khodorkovsky case; and a review of the new restrictions put on the activities of Russian civil society organisations.

INTA Plenary votes: investment policy; trade relations with US and Myanmar/Burma

The Chamber will discuss investment policy legislation and trade preferences for Myanmar/Burma on 22.05.13. Voting is scheduled on the following day, together with the vote on a resolution giving the European Parliament's position on the draft mandate for the upcoming negotiations on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership Agreement.
