Vote on measures for the recovery of the European eel stocks

On 29 May at 15.00, the COD report amending the Council Regulation (EC) No 1100/2007 establishing measures for the recovery of European eel stocks by Isabella Lövin (Greens) will be put to vote. The proposal from the Commission is part of the alignment to the Lisbon Treaty. The plan for the recovery of the European eel is particularly important given the vulnerable state of the eel stocks.

Hearing on Maritime spatial planning

On 30 May at 9.00, PECH Committee will organise a hearing on Maritime spatial planning - An opportunity for sustainability in fisheries and aquaculture, in room ASP1G2 . The Chair of the Committee on Fisheries will open the hearing introducing the experts. There will be three panels: the first will discuss about Planning and Management of maritime activities and coastal; the second one will talk about Opportunities for fisheries and aquaculture and the last one will present Practical applications of Marine Spatial Planning.

Vote on Adriatic and Ionian Seas fishing strategy

On 29 May at 15.00, Members of the PECH Committee will vote on the own-initiative report: A strategy for fisheries in the Adriatic and Ionian Seas by Guido Milana (S&D). The report seeks to promote the establishment of a new EU strategy on fisheries and aquaculture in the Adriatic-Ionian sea basin, with a view to giving a major boost to the development of sustainable economic activities which will have a beneficial effect on coastal communities and adjacent inland areas.

Vote on controversial Fisheries Partnership Agreements with Mauritania

On 29 May, PECH Committee will vote on Fisheries Partnership Agreements with Mauritania 2012/0258(NLE) that has proved controversial. The Rapporteur MATO (PPE) takes the position that consent should not be given as it is not to the EU’s advantage being economically unviable and is not to Mauritania’s advantage either. Other members have taken the contrary position.

Stājoties spēkā Lisabonas līgumam, Eiropas Parlaments ir ieguvis koplēmuma pilnvaras attiecībā uz līdzdalību ar šo politiku saistītu jautājumu risināšanā. Zivsaimniecības politikai ir jāapvieno dažādas intereses, lai ilgtermiņā izveidotu ilgtspējīgu jūras vidi un zivju krājumus un atbalstītu zvejniekus, saistītās nozares un piekrastes kopienas. Pašreizējā politikā ir vairāki trūkumi, kas jārisina visām trim reformā iesaistītajām iestādēm.
 
Šo procesu pozitīvi var ietekmēt tikai tad, ja ES iedzīvotājus pienācīgi informē par viņu interesēs pieņemtajiem politiskajiem lēmumiem, tāpēc es esmu pārliecināta, ka šī tīmekļa vietne būs ļoti noderīga, sniedzot ieskatu par komitejas ikdienas darbu.
