Vote on Noise restrictions at EU airports

The key message of this legislative report is that a balance is needed between economic and health aspects of noise management at EU airports. It emphasises the role of local authorities in adopting noise mitigating measures.

The draft recommendation for second reading was adopted in the TRAN meeting on 10.04.14.

TRAN 10-04-2014 - 10:16

Noise-related operating restrictions at EU airports would continue to be set by regional and national authorities, but people living nearby should be better informed and noise-related health problems should be given more consideration, thanks to a deal between Parliament and the Council of Ministers endorsed by the Transport and Tourism Committee on Thursday. Parliament as a whole will now vote on the deal at the April plenary session.

TRAN 20-03-2014 - 11:17

To boost the take-up of alternative fuels in transport, EU countries will have to ensure that enough refuelling and recharging stations are available to enable cars, trucks and ships using alternative fuels, such as natural gas and electricity, to move freely on EU roads and waterways, under an informal agreement reached by Council and Parliament negotiators on Thursday.

TRAN 18-03-2014 - 10:18

Draft truck design rule changes, to allow designers to make it easier for drivers to see pedestrians and cyclists and improve bodywork streamlining to cut pollutant emissions, were backed by Transport Committee MEPs on Tuesday. The rules would allow designs to exceed current maximum length and weight limits in order to improve performance in these areas.

Merħba bik fis-sit tal-Kumitat għat-Trasport u t-Turiżmu. Hawnhekk issib tagħrif dwar il-Kumitat tagħna, il-Membri tiegħu u x-xogħol li nagħmlu. Għandi l-unur li nservi bħala l-president ta' Kumitat fost l-aktar bieżla u importanti tal-Parlament Ewropew.

Il-Kumitat tagħna huwa wieħed li jfassal il-liġijiet fil-proċedura ta' kodeċiżjoni, u għandu bosta snin esperjenza ta' ħidma mal-Istati Membri, minħabba li huwa sieħeb ugwali fit-tfassil tal-leġiżlazzjoni dwar it-trasport, tal-politika dwar it-turiżmu u tal-politiki marbuta mas-servizzi postali.

It-trasport huwa parti stabbilita ta' ħajjitna ta' kuljum. Huwa importanti, mhux biss biex iwassal l-oġġetti u s-servizzi lill-indistrija u l-kummerċ, imma wkoll biex iġorr lin-nies minn djarhom sax-xogħol, sal-iskola jew f'xi vaganza tant mistennija. Bla trasport, is-soċjetà tieqaf ħesrem, il-kummerċ jikkrolla u nitilfu din l-interkonnessjoni kruċjali. Ilkoll għandha bżonn it-trasport f'ħajjitna ta' kuljum. Il-Kumitat tiegħi dawn il-fatti ilu li għarafhom u ħadem biex jiżgura li, fi ħdan l-Unjoni Ewropea, nisfruttaw il-potenzjal kollu tat-trasport, mhux biss għas-sostenibbiltà ekonomika u soċjali imma wkoll, u bl-istess importanza, għas-sostenibbiltà ambjentali.

Nemmnu li t-trasport, ikun xi jkun il-mod partikolari, lis-soċjetà jagħtiha valur miżjud, u kulħadd għandu jkollu aċċess għalih.
