The employment impact of the Investment Plan presented by Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker

EMPL Members will have an opportunity to discuss the possible impact of the recently announced investment plan on the labour market in the EU with representatives of the ILO and the Commission. The discussion is expected to provide input into the prospective contribution of the EMPL committee to the EP's position on the investment package.

Establishment of a European Platform to enhance cooperation in the prevention and deterrence of undeclared work

During the meeting on 22 January Members held an exchange of views on the 395 amendments submitted in addition to the 71 amendments in the draft report. It was underlined the overall support for the establishment of the Platform. The adoption is expected on 26 February.

Proposal for a directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on seafarers amending Directives 2008/94/EC, 2009/38/EC, 2002/14/EC, 98/59/EC and 2001/23/EC

On 22 January the Rapporteur Elisabeth Morin-Chartier (EPP-FR) presented her draft report, emphasizing the respect of the agreement reached between the social partners. The vote in EMPL is scheduled for 1 April 2015. Procedure 2013/0390(COD).

European network of Employment Services, workers' access to mobility services and the further integration of labour markets (EURES)

The EMPL Committee held an exchange of views on the draft report of Heinz Becker (EPP, AT) on the legislative proposal for a EURES Regulation (2014/0002(COD)). The Commission proposal aims to enhance access of workers to intra-EU labour mobility support services, thus supporting fair mobility and increasing access to employment opportunities throughout the Union.

Welkom op de site van de Commissie werkgelegenheid en sociale zaken (de EMPL-commissie), die door mij wordt voorgezeten.

De EMPL-commissie is hoofdzakelijk belast met het werkgelegenheidsbeleid en alle aspecten van het sociaal beleid, arbeidsvoorwaarden- en omstandigheden, beroepsopleiding en het vrije verkeer van werknemers en gepensioneerden.
