Uma comissão é autorizada a organizar uma audição de peritos se entender que a mesma é indispensável para o seu trabalho sobre uma determinada questão. As audições também podem ser realizadas conjuntamente por duas ou mais comissões. A maioria das comissões organiza audições com regularidade, uma vez que as mesmas lhes permitem ouvir a opinião de peritos e debater questões fulcrais. One in three Europeans develops cancer during his or her lifetime, which is an immense social and economic cost for the EU. Certain forms of cancer, such as breast, uterus and cervical and other cancers affecting female reproductive tract, exist predominantly among or are exclusive to women. European protection order

The EPO Directive was initiated by a group of twelve states and came into force in January 2011. This judicial co-operation tool is based on the principle of mutual recognition, which means that protection orders issued in one Member State have to be recognized and enforced in another Member State. One of the main challenges in the application of this instrument is to ensure that the protection of victims is not hampered by the diversity of national measures. (Ler mais)

Together with experts on the situation of Roma in the Balkans, Members will acquire a more complete and detailed understanding of the exclusion, discrimination and poverty that this minority is exposed to. Between 2008 and 2015, about 370 000 persons from five Balkan states asked for asylum in Germany, many of them Roma fleeing discrimination, persecutions, ethnic tensions and poverty. (Ler mais)

On 11 October, SEDE will hold a public hearing on the militarisation in the Black Sea. The hearing is timely, as the regional security situation on the eastern flank has become very challenging for the EU and NATO. It will focus on the security situation following the Russian illegal annexation of Crimea and the conflict in Eastern Ukraine. Furthermore, the hearing will analyse the military strategic consequences of the conflicts and the possibilities to foster stability and cooperation. (Ler mais)

On 11 October, a joint ENVI/AGRI public hearing was held on "The Monsanto papers and glyphosate”. Glyphosate is a widely used, but highly controversial plant protection product and the active substance in Monsanto's weed killer Roundup. EFSA and ECHA concluded that glyphosate is safe, while the International Agency for Research on Cancer classified it as “probably carcinogenic to humans”. (Ler mais)
