Exchange of views with Italian Presidency and Commissioner Hahn
The Members of the REGI Committee will hold on Monday 22 September 2014 from 15:00 to 17:45 an Exchange of views with Graziano Delrio, State Secretary to the Prime Minister, on the priorities of the Italian Presidency of the Council in the Cohesion Policy and with Johannes Hahn, Commissioner on Regional Policy.
The OPEN DAYS – European Week of Regions and Cities - is an annual four-day event during which cities and regions showcase their capacity to create growth and jobs, implement European Union cohesion policy, and prove the importance of the local and regional level for good European governance. The event is managed by the Committee of the Regions and the European Commission's DG REGIO.
The official Opening Session will take place on 6th October 2014 at 14:30 in the European Parliament's Hemicycle.

The priorities of the Italian Council Presidency were outlined to the various parliamentary committees by Italian ministers on 2, 3 and 22 September, following a first series of meetings held on 22 and 23 July.
Powers and responsibilities
Committee responsible for:
the operation and development of the Union’s regional development and cohesion policy, as established in the Treaties;
the European Regional Development Fund, the Cohesion Fund and the other instruments of the Union’s regional policy;
assessment of the impact of other Union policies on economic and social cohesion;
coordination of the Union’s structural instruments;
the urban dimension of the cohesion policy;
outermost regions and islands as well as trans-frontier and interregional cooperation;
relations with the Committee of the Regions, interregional cooperation organisations and local and regional authorities.
