On 21 June from 10.30 to 12.30 the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs will hold, in association with Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality, a public hearing on "Trafficking of women and children in the context of migration. The new slavery of our times".

Gathering representatives of specialist EU and intergovernmental institutions, but also of the academia and practitioners from NGOs, the hearing will examine how human trafficking into the EU is on the rise and how much it is related to increased migration flows towards the EU. The focus will be on women and children which are particularly targeted for trafficking, notably for prostitution and exploitation for various criminal activities. The first part will tackle prevention and protection of victims, while the second part will turn to Measures to combat Trafficking in Human Beings.
