Following a Commission proposal for a total ban on driftnet fisheries, the Committee on Fisheries will discuss alternative solutions based on a recent study by the Institute of Marine Sciences in Italy during its meeting of 30.03.15. The Committee will then vote on the legislative report on the multiannual management plan for multispecies of the Baltic Sea on 31.01.15. It sets management targets for cod, sprat and herring in order to achieve a better management of the stocks as they interact.
The legislative report on strengthening aspects of the presumption of innocence and of the right to be present at trial in criminal proceedings will be voted on by the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs on 31.03.15. It will also vote on its opinion regarding the TTIP negotiations, and the questions for oral answer by the Commission and the Council regarding the smart borders legislative package - which aims to improve the management of the EU external borders.
The Committee on Budgets will vote on its report regarding the consent to a Commission proposal to revise the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) regulation 2014-2020. If approved, the proposed adjustment of the MFF ceilings will make it possible to transfer 21 billion euro in unused funding due to the late adoption of new rules or programmes under shared management, to the 2015 budget. The final vote on this revision is scheduled for Parliament's plenary sitting of 15.04.15.
The Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs will meet the Chair of the European Central Bank's Supervisory Board, Danièle Nouy, for a public hearing in the framework of the Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM). The SSM is one of the constituent elements of a European banking union. The hearing will take place on 31.03.15 during which Ms Nuoy will present the ECB's first annual report on the SSM. On 31.03, Members are also due to vote on the draft report "Indices used as benchmarks in financial instruments and financial contracts" (Rapporteur: C. van Nieuwenhuizen, ALDE).
The Development Committee will discuss ways of dealing with the consequences of the Ebola outbreak, EU budget support, financing for development and relief efforts for Vanuatu following cyclone PAM, on 31.03.15. It will vote on the EU Member States' commitment to dedicate 0.7% of the Gross National Income to development assistance on 01.04.15. It will also look at the nexus between development and migration during a joint meeting with the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs.
