Cohesion policy 2014-2020 - information session

During the afternoon session of the REGI Committee meeting on 3rd of December 2014 the REGI Members will hold an exchange of views with the European Commission on Cohesion policy 2014-2020.

The only vote foreseen for the REGI meeting of 3 December is on the opinion to the Committee on Budgetary Control (CONT) on the Commission's Annual Report 2013 on the Protection of the EU's Financial Interests - Fight Against Fraud.  The Rapporteur, Mr. Pascal Arimont, presented his draft opinion on the meeting of 4 November, which was followed by a lively and highly participated debate with Members of the Committee. The deadline for amendments was set for 13 November, and 48 amendments were tabled.

Delays in the start-up of Cohesion Policy 2014-2020

A question for Oral answer with debate (Rule 128) on Delays in the start-up of Cohesion Policy 2014-2020 was tabled for November II Plenary Session by Iskra Mihaylova on behalf of the REGI Committee.

Powers and responsibilities
Committee responsible for:
  1. the operation and development of the Union’s regional development and cohesion policy, as established in the Treaties;
  2. the European Regional Development Fund, the Cohesion Fund and the other instruments of the Union’s regional policy;
  3. assessment of the impact of other Union policies on economic and social cohesion;
  4. coordination of the Union’s structural instruments;
  5. the urban dimension of the cohesion policy;
  6. outermost regions and islands as well as trans-frontier and interregional cooperation;
  7. relations with the Committee of the Regions, interregional cooperation organisations and local and regional authorities.
