Welcome message from the Chair of the Conference of Delegation Chairs

Dear Members, partners and friends,

The EU is a global benchmark as regards its values and guiding principles and we stand united to defend a peaceful, fair, inclusive and rules-based world order.

As elected representatives, Members of the European Parliament are committed to making the voice of EU citizens heard internationally, in keeping with our values and strategic interests.

It is through the work of the delegations that we pursue dialogue with our partners from third countries, to seek shared prosperity and peace for our citizens, in particular by strengthening democracy and human rights.

I am fully convinced of the important role of parliamentary diplomacy in helping the European Union to shape its external policies and pursue its objectives.

Together with the CDC Secretariat, we will be working on the pages of this site in order to make them an increasingly useful source of information about our activities, our mission, and our meetings in Brussels, Strasbourg and elsewhere. We will also provide links to relevant parliamentary resolutions and other background documents on the EP's external dimension.

Even at this difficult time, when the coronavirus crisis has been curtailing many of our inter-parliamentary activities, we are continuing to work hand in hand with our partners all over the world, because we are aware that a global pandemic can only be overcome by means of multilateralism and international cooperation. I hope these pages will demonstrate the significant role that delegations play in connecting the European Parliament to the world.
